YOGA
Our bodies hold an innate wisdom, yet many of us have spent our lives attempting to "fix" or "change" them. We often spend our days rushing, pushing through, ignoring our own needs to care for others.
In practice, I invite you to come back to your body with appreciation and compassion for all it's strength and knowledge. To pause, even for a moment, and know that all you need to do in that moment is breathe.
In class, I am simply a guide; you are the expert of what you need.
I hope to empower each of my students to tune into themselves and adjust their practice as needed - whether it's a different pose, or finding more rest, I hope that each student feels they are able to make their practice align with what their body needs in that moment.

My Journey to the Mat
My relationship with my body has been a complicated one, and finding ways to move my body in a more gentle way has been my focus for the last few years. Prior to finding yoga, I didn't know that exercise could be anything but a way to alter and shrink my body. I had always been curious about yoga but found that many studios in the bigger cities I lived in felt intimidating and competitive.
Then I found Vancouver Island Yoga School. It welcomed me, just as I was. The teachers and other students were warm and supportive. I slowly found my community, and a new compassionate relationship with my body grew.
I didn't envision teaching at first, but after burning out from my work in counselling, I continued to lean into yoga for my own wellbeing while also exploring new ways I could weave together the elements of yoga and my therapeutic work. I completed my 220hr Yoga Teacher Training in June 2022.

Yoga has held me through grief, loss, bliss, and presence. It has guided me back to my heart when I lost my way in life. My mat has felt my tears and sweat and laughter and joy. It has been my counsellor, my confidant, my teacher, my friend.

To step onto your mat is a courageous act. If you've taken sometime away from yoga, or maybe you've never tried, I hold gratitude for you being here, just as you are.
And I hope to one day share practice together.
